MYANMAR junta sent bombers to pummel Gogalec city which is around 45km from Thailand’s Mae Sot district with over a hundred houses destroyed by fire, Matichon newspaper said today (Jan 28).
At least three rounds of bombing took place with district numbers 1, 7, and 3, which are urban and suburban zones, as well as residences along Asia Highway being targeted.
Aside from around a hundred houses being set ablaze a high school too was completely gutted with no government agencies nor residents daring to go extinguish the fires.
Opposition troops, who have captured around 80% of this city, were only able to retaliate by firing mortars.
Myanmar junta troops avoided clashing with the opposition forces because they are outnumbered in this zone.
However it was reported that Myanmar junta mounted the bombings because the generals suspect resistance troops were staying in these districts.
This morning residents went out to look at their houses destroyed by this wave of bombing.
