A FORMER SENATOR of Saraburi has been charged for sexually abusing a 15-year-old girl who had been allegedly forced by her own mother into the flesh trade, police said today (Sep.14).
The former senator, namely Boonsong Kerdlum, 58, who had unsuccessfully contested last May’s election for MP of Saraburi under the Pheu Thai tickets, was among five men being charged with perpetrating sexual abuses of the underaged Thai/Myanmar girl at a motel in Baan Mor district of the central province, the police said.
Boonsong, a native of Baan Mor district, turned himself in, categorically denied the sexual abuse charge and was released under bail whilst the police have launched investigation into the forced prostitution.
Meanwhile, the girl’s mother, a Myanmar national only identified as Mameo, 37, has been accused of human trafficking, preying on her underaged daughter and illegal entry into the country.
The suspected Myanmar woman had worked as a housemaid at the local motel where the forced prostitution had taken place with the underaged victim having been abused in exchange for 1,500 to 2,000 baht at a time from each customer, the police said.
Another sexually abusing suspect, also released under bail, was identified as Decha Korkerd, 62, a former director of the National Office of Buddhism’s provincial branch.
The Thai/Myanmar girl who is still a student at a local secondary-level school has been brought to Kredtrakarn Home in Nonthaburi for rehabilitation.
Her father, a Thai national, had informed the police of the flesh trade.
