PHEU THAI de facto leader/former prime minister Thaksin Shinawatra today (Aug. 5) said in a post on X, formerly known as Twitter, that he is postponing his planned return to Thailand next week on Aug. 10 because his doctor has called him for a physical examination.
His daughter Paetongtarn Shinawatra, head of Pheu Thai Family and also among the camp’s three candidates for prime minister, had earlier announced that her father will return on Aug. 10 with his private airplane to land at Don Mueang Airport.
Over the past week word had spread that Thaksin would put off his planned return to Thailand until his party succeeds in forging a new coalition after dumping Move Forward Party from the previous eight-party grouping.
The voting of Pheu Thai candidate Srettha Thavisin for prime minister, who is known as personally associated with deposed prime minister Yingluck Shinawatra, has been postponed until the Constitutional Court rules on the constitutionality of a vote to deny Move Forward leader Pita Limjaroenrat a second chance to be named prime minister on Aug. 16.
Thaksin said in his post that in not more than two weeks’ time he will again reveal his homecoming plans.
