DOING the rounds on Thai social media is a 40-second video clip showing a group of tourists being attacked by three foreign employees of a restaurant at Phuket’s Patong beach who aside from punching them also hit them with a aluminium rod and a chair, Naewna newspaper said this afternoon (Mar. 27).

The brawl broke out at 00.50 a.m in front of Atlas restaurant in Soi Sansabai with Patong police quickly going there to investigate.

At the restaurant they found the three foreign employees who had bashed up the five tourists with the latter nowhere in sight. Identified as Mr. Mohammad Jehad Alomari, a Jordanian, and Mr. Abderahman Mohammed Elfaval, an Egyptian and Mr. Wai Lu Soe, they told police that the five drunk tourists had come to the restaurant and ordered food with instructions to  prepare and serve it quickly.

However the employees told them that they had to follow the queue which annoyed them and one of them angrily flung a bottle of water. This angered the three employees and led to the fracas.

Police took photos of the scene of the fight and are tracing the five tourists to also question them about the incident.
