PALANG PRACHARATH leader Prawit Wongsuwan today (Mar.23) confirmed there will be no more coup after the May 14 general election.
Prawit told reporters at the Palang Pracharath party headquarters that no military coup will be repeated in foreseeable future no matter which party might possibly become core of a post-election government, including the Pheu Thai and his own.
The Palang Pracharath leader remarked there will be no more political crisis among different sectors of society which might possibly otherwise prompt a coup following the May 14 election whereas, he said, his camp is obviously preoccupied with a “step beyond conflict” campaign.
Prawit categorically denied alleged involvement in the 2014 coup orchestrated by then-junta leader Prayut Chan-o-cha who was seated next to him during last February’s censure debate against the latter as prime minister.
Nevertheless, Prawit quietly managed to land Prayut the premiership and himself the defence portfolio in the Palang Pracharath-led coalition government after the 2019 election.
The Palang Pracharath boss who is running as sole partisan contestant for prime minister has been reportedly more or less connected and influential among military commanders since he himself was army chief nearly two decades earlier.
