Chula varsity opens lab to test Monkeypox, result out in 24 hours

 

A RAPID test for Monkeypox with the result available within 24 hours was launched today (July 27) by Chulalongkorn University’s Emerging Infectious Diseases Health Science Centre, Faculty of Medicine, Matichon newspaper said.

Dr. Thiravat Hemachudha, a professor of neurology and head of this centre, said tests will be conducted by real time PCR, Conventional PCR with virus identification being done by sequencing.

Government agencies will be quickly alerted of any patients infected with this viral disease for public safety.

“You can submit your sample for a test at Room 912, Aor Por Ror Building, 9th floor from 8.30 a.m. to 5 p.m. on working days, telephone number 02 256 4000 ext. 3562, or call 09 4364 1594 or email TRC@gmail.com on holidays,” he said.
