American Covid patient escapes from Thai hospital

A COVID-INFECTED American man escaped from Chanuman Hospital in Amnat Charoen province yesterday (May 9) but was later tracked down to his house in the same province and brought back for treatment, Amarin TV said this afternoon.

The unidentified American man fled after hospital staff refused to let him share a hospital room with his wife who is also undergoing treatment there for coronavirus.

He was spotted walking down a road in the same district and later found at his home. Hospital staff then went there and convinced him to return for treatment.

After this incident Chanuman district chief ordered tighter security at this hospital because local people panicked when news of a Covid patient having escaped from the hospital spread.
