THE Thai entertainment industry was shaken today (Sept. 8) by the death of popular singer Thanwa Rasithanu after having contracted Covid-19 while the daily tally inched up to 14,176 cases and 228 deaths, Thai Rath and Daily News newspapers said.
It was another singer, Baowee R Siam, who broke the news of the death Thanwa, 51, at 11 p.m. last night on his Facebook page with the following message:
 “Sleep well, Thanwa Rasithanu, frightened…”
After that lots of fans posted condolence messages for the late singer.
Thanwas was a native of Nong Bua Lamphu province and was the youngest of three children.
After his mother died of cancer, he had to drop out of school after completing the sixth grade and got a job as a bus helper which he held for two years.
When his father got married again he and his siblings moved to Phetchabun province to live with them.
However as he could not get along with his step-mother and her children he decided to come to Bangkok to search for opportunities in the capital. Here he met an old friend who is a musician and they set up a band, called Thantawan (Sunflower), with this being the first rung of the ladder leading to later success.
