THE police colonel seen in video clip suffocating a drug suspect to death with two plastic bags said after his arrest that he was not extorting 2 million baht from the him but was trying to get information on where he had hidden drugs, Siam Rath newspaper and Sanook.com said this evening (Aug 26).
At around 6 p.m. this evening Pol. Col. Thitisan Uttanaphon, former superintendent of the Mueang Nakhon Sawan police station, was brought to the Crime Suppression Division police headquarters for questioning and National Police Chief Pol.Gen. Suwat Jangyodsuk had personally quizzed him.
Pol. Col. Thitisan also said that he had not escaped but was in a state of shock and needed time to get himself together again.
He also apologised for damaging the image of the Royal Thai Police force.
It was observed that Pol. Col. Thitisan, whose nickname is Superintendent Joe Ferrari, looked visibly thinner in the photos released to the press.
Aside from him the second most important suspect in this case is Pol.Lt.Taranin Makawanna, who had also disappeared.
There is an unverified report that he was arrested in Chonburi.
