Urgent! Hunted cop arrested after fleeing to Myanmar

THE police colonel who fled after a video clip emerged showing him suffocating a drug suspect to death with two plastic bags had fled to Myanmar’s Myawaddy town, across border from Mae Sot, but later coordinated with the police team chasing him and has now been arrested, Amarin TV said this afternoon (Aug. 26).

Pol. Col. Thitisan Uttanaphon, former superintendent of the Mueang Nakhon Sawan police station, contacted the investigators tracking him and told them where he was and they then found him and took him to a safe house.

National  Police Chief Pol. Gen. Suwat Jangyodsuk and other senior officers and investigators are flying out from Bangkok to the location where Pol. Col. Thitisan is being held to personally question him.

Pol. Gen. Suwat will provide further details of this case tomorrow.

Meanwhile there is no word that Pol.Lt.Taranin Makawanna, the second police officer who escaped after a video clip emerged showing them killing the suspect, Mr. Jeerapong Thanapat, 24, by suffocating him with two plastic bags, had been arrested.
