Thanathorn not discouraged despite being hit with many cases

PROGRESSIV Movement leader Thanathorn Juangroongruangkit said today (Feb. 17) that in entering the political arena he has now been hit with lots of cases which waste his time but have not led to any discouragement, INN News and Sanook.com said.

Thanathorn, who is the leading government critic, was a few days ago ordered by the Criminal Court to delete allegations on social media that question the business ethics of His Majesty the King and the Prime Minister.

The government said Mr Thanathorn’s Progressive Movement claims that the Kingdom’s coronavirus vaccine policy unfairly favours a company owned by His Majesty the King.

Now the government has lodged a case against him over his video, accusing him of insulting royalty, a charge punishable by up to 15 years’ prison.

However despite these cases Thanothorn clarified that in fact he does not have any political ambitions and was not playing politics for personal gain.

When he decided to enter politics it was because the country was in a desperate position and he could not see how it could return to democracy.

He then realized that a new energy was needed to help the country and for that reason became a politician.

Asked if he could turn back the clock whether he would still get involved in politics, Thanathorn said if at that time there was a political party fighting for what he is doing, he would have supported it. However there was no party answering these needs.
