THE Public Health Ministry said at 1 p.m. today (Feb. 7) that Samut Sakhon still has the most Covid-19 cases in the country with this reaching 14,732 from Dec. 18, 2020 to this morning when 202 new cases were added over the past 24 hours, Siam Rath newspaper said.
Bangkok had 17 new cases today taking the total in this period to 860, the ministry’s Disease Control Department revealed.
Eleventh rank Samut Songkhram province logged one more case today, taking the provincial total to 54 cases.
Meanwhile, Tak province, which ranks 12th, logged five new cases today adding up to 40 cases.
Earlier at 11.30 a.m. the Centre for Covid-19 Situation Administration said that the daily number of Covid cases has dropped sharply to 237 taking the cumulative total to 23,371.
There were no additional deaths with the toll remaining at 79. Another 668 patients have been cured taking the total to 16,942 while 6,350 remain hospitalized.
Of today’s 237 cases, 225 were domestic, with 113 found through surveillance and service systems and 112 through proactive searches in communities.
Twelve travellers from overseas arrived and have been quarantined, with five being Thai and seven of other nationalities. Three came from Myanmar, two from the UK and one each from Singapore, Germany, Japan, Maldives, Italy, Pakistan and France.
