THE SHOCKING murder of a teenage girl whose body was found dumped in a trash can in Rayong has been solved with her 16-year-old boyfriend having confessed to the brutal crime, Amarin TV said this morning (June 19).
The deceased was identified as Ms. Chonthicha (surname withheld), 17, by her parents Ms. Areerat, 40, and Mr. Winai, 47, at Klaeng Hospital last evening after she had been missing for over a week.
Police later summoned the unidentified 16-year-old youth for questioning in connection with this murder but he initially denied any involvement. However upon being shown the evidence, including images of the motorised tricycle used to transport the body and the clothes he was wearing that day plus other related documents, he confessed to killing his girlfriend out of jealousy and dumping her body to conceal the crime.
When Pol. Maj. Gen. Chokchai Ngamwong, deputy commander of Provincial Police Region 2, emerged from Klaeng police station to brief reporters about the arrest of this youth in the murder case, a commotion ensured when a police team escorted the young suspect to the interrogation room for questioning.
Reporters quickly turned their cameras and followed the teenager to the interrogation room but the police team would not let them interview him.
They added that a press conference on the evidence gathered in this case had also been cancelled because the suspect is a minor.
