AN ELDERLY man who only a few days ago breached the tight security at Government House and rode in on his motorcycle to file a complaint did it again, this time at parliament building where a marathon debate that started yesterday after Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul delivered the Bhumjaithai-led government’s policy statement is continuing, Amarin TV said this afternoon (April 10).
At around 12.30 p.m. Mr. Pongpichan (surname withheld), the elderly man who was wearing a taxi driver’s shirt and a helmet with a disability symbol, entered the parliament building and upon reaching the emerald pool at the centre shouted for House Speaker Sophon Zaram, claiming he had sent him a letter.
He also stated that he was a lifelong member of the Bhumjaithai Party and that he was from the same hometown as the party’s de facto boss Newin Chidchob, and Sophon.
Pongpichan has a history of visiting several political parties, often mentioning past accidents to claim compensation. He had previously twice visited Bhumjaithai headquarters, and Anutin, as party leader, had sent a representative to receive his complaint.
While he was apprehended by parliamentary police, reporters at the scene noted that security at the parliament’s main entrances and exits was very lax.
Notices bearing Pongpichan’s image stating that he was a monitored individual and prohibited from entering the compound were posted there yet he managed to easily slip in.
