Chon Buri – US 7th Fleet flagship USS Blue Ridge (LCC 19) arrived in Laem Chabang port, Chon Buri, for a scheduled port visit today (March 26) with this warship’s last visit to Thailand being in June, 2024, the US embassy said.
During this port visit, leadership from the US 7th Fleet flagship and USS Blue Ridge are scheduled to meet with their Thai navy counterparts and local leaders to discuss ways of improving operational readiness, advancing future military capabilities, and enhancing the US-Thai alliance overall to improve US international partnerships, which are critical to continued global prosperity. This visit marks continuous drive by the US to strengthen its alliance built on military exercises such as Cobra Gold and CARAT.
“Our team is grateful to be here. This visit showcases what over 190 years of friendly, formal relations looks like between the United States and Thailand,” said Rear Adm. Kyle Gantt, deputy commander, US 7th Fleet. “Every engagement from Staff talks to Cobra Gold steadily builds our collective ability to continually ensure a prosperous, free and open Indo-Pacific.”
In addition, sailors from Blue Ridge and US 7th Fleet are scheduled to participate in a series of in-port activities to include community relations events and ship tours. Laem Chabang will also serve as a short stop for Blue Ridge as the ship brings fuel and supplies on board.
US 7th Fleet staff, embarked aboard Blue Ridge, commands the world’s largest forward-deployed fleet with the primary mission of providing operational control and planning for its forces in the Western Pacific and Indian Oceans, while promoting regional stability and maritime security through engagements with allies and partners.
The Blue Ridge and embarked US 7th Fleet staff conduct regular Indo-Pacific patrols to deter aggression, strengthen alliances and partnerships, and advance future warfighting capabilities.
