Prasat Ta Khwai temple belongs to Thailand but panel resolving problems: PM

PRIME MINISTER Anutin Charnvirakul said today (Nov. 5)  that the ancient Prasat Ta Khwai temple is within Thai territory but the Thai-Cambodian Joint Boundary Commission (JBC) is resolving all outstanding issues, Amarin TV said.

He pointed out that he has clearly stated Thai territory must be protected above all else.

Regarding influencers organising a rally to reclaim Prasat Ta Khwai, in Phanom Dong Rak district, Surin province. Anutin said everyone has the right to express patriotism, but they must not violate Thai and international laws.

Asked whether he has spoken to Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet about Ban Nong Chan, a former Khmer refugee camp in Sa Kaeo province, which he said he will be visiting after Nov. 17, Anutin said that this issue falls under a section of the ceasefire agreement the two countries signed and must be discussed.

“This is because we claim it’s our territory, and they claim it’s theirs. Therefore, we need to discuss this. We have a team of experts and technological evidence to prove it. Therefore, we must leave it to the JBC negotiating team. We cannot interfere,” Anutin said.
