A THREE-DAY celebration starting this weekend (Sep. 6-8) is taking place at Khao Kheow Open Zoo in Chonburi to mark the 60th birthday of Mae Mali, the beloved hippopotamus, TV Channel 7 said.
Mr. Narongwit Chodchoi, the open zoo’s director, said the event at the hippopotamus exhibit features a booth showcasing the Hippo Village project, some games with a chance to win souvenirs and birthday cards, and a special event on Monday (Sep. 8) featuring a spectacular fruitcake and a chance to sing “Happy Birthday” to Mae Mali, along with fans and tourists.
This celebration would not only add colour and bring smiles to visitors but also helps raise awareness of wildlife conservation while letting the public participate in looking after the animals under the open zoo’s care, he added.
