THE Thai Sovereignty Defence Group’s national unity rally started at Victory Monument late this morning (June 28) with the first speaker being “Mor Khiew Chai Petch Kla Chon” while the organisers underscored that this is not a colour-coded demonstration, Amarin TV said.
Key leaders of this rally include Mr. Jatuporn Prompan, former core leader of the Red Shirt movement, Mr. Panthep Puapongphan and Mr. Nitithorn Lamluea, both lawyers, and Mr. Phichit Chaiyamongkol, core leader of the Network of Students and People for Reform of Thailand.
Phichit said that all those who flocked to the rally came voluntarily with there being no financial support except for donations from those who want the country to change.
He added that leaders like Prime Minister Paetongtarn Shinawatra, who is in Chiang Rai to inspect floods there today, are fleeing from the people and should have shown responsibility from the first day an audio clip of her telephone conversation with Cambodian Senate President Hun Sen was leaked.
In this audio clip Paetongtarn is heard saying she would do whatever Hun Sen wanted in an effort to settle the border dispute and even branded Thailand’s Second Army Area Commander Lt. Gen. Boonsin Padklang “one of those on the opposite side”.
There is going to be a surprise at 6 p.m. today with the rally leaders to deliver a key message, he said, while warning third party groups to not stir up trouble.
Many people who gradually came to the rally wore clothes in the colours of Thai national flag and brought national flags along to express their patriotism with this reflecting their intention to protect the sovereignty and security of the nation.
