AN AEROFLOT flight carrying 331 passengers and a crew of 15 made an emergency landing at Suvarnabhumi Airport last night (Feb. 10) after circling for five hours upon departing Phuket Airport in the afternoon, Amarin TV said today,
The Boeing777-300ER Aeroflot flight SU277 was heading for Moscow when it developed technical system problems and could not fly to its destination.
The airplane circled for five hours after taking off from Phuket Airport at 3.20 p.m. then landed safely at 9.11 p.m. at Suvarnabhumi Airport.
Airports of Thailand President Kerati Kijmanawat issued an order to prepare for emergency landing by implementing all the steps of the response plan and giving the highest priority to the safety of the passengers and aircraft.
Mr. Kittipong Kittikhachorn, Suvarnabhumi Airport’s general manager, said upon receiving the order all relevant units including firefighting, rescue and medical teams quickly prepared for the emergency response.
However the airplane landed safely at 9.11 p.m. on 01 R runaway and parked at parking bay number 115. Airport staff took care of the passengers and crew with the airline putting them up in hotels outside the airport and arranging other flights to fly them to Moscow.
