POLICE have concluded that the six Vietnamese visitors, with two being American citizens, who died at a luxury downtown hotel yesterday (July 16) were poisoned by a woman in the group who died along with them over 10 million baht investment not yielding returns, Thai Rath and Naewna newspapers said this afternoon.
Pol. Maj. Gen.Noppasil Poolsawat, deputy commander of Metropolitan Police Bureau, said investigation revealed that cyanide was mixed in tea they consumed with the residue of this poison found in the six cups.
Hotel staff said that tea was taken to the Grand Hyatt Erawan Hotel room and when they were going to prepare it for all six of them to drink a woman in the group said they would themselves do so.
Initially the cause was believed to stem from an investment of 10 million baht for which no returns had been given amid demands for return.
The group first planned to go to Japan to clear up this business problem but then changed their mind and came to Thailand.
Regarding the seventh person who also travelled here but disappeared, investigation showed that this person left Thailand before the murder-suicide.
