PHEU THAI MP CHALERM Yubamrung today (July 10) dared the ruling party to expel him following the resignation of his son/former MP Wan Yubamrung from a minor post in government.
The frustrated Chalerm told reporters that he can no longer stay with the Pheu Thai under de facto party boss Thaksin Shinawatra now that his son has quit as a staff member for Public Health Minister Somsak Thepsuthin.
Without naming names, the former deputy prime minister said a few other camps have already invited him to join immediately if he is eventually expelled from the Pheu Thai.
Wan had earlier expressed moral support for Khamronwit Thoopkrachang in June 30’s Pathum Thani provincial election in which he had been outvoted by Charn Puangpet who had contested under the Pheu Thai banners.
However, the presence of Chalerm’s son at Khamronwit’s house whilst the votes were being counted had reportedly angered Prime Minister Srettha Thavisin and Thaksin’s daughter/Pheu Thai leader Paetongtarn Shinawatra.
In case of an ouster from a political party, MPs are legally given a 30-day period to find a new party to be attached to in order to keep their MP status intact.
The party-listed MP Chalerm had reportedly had a strained relationship with Thaksin’s daughter and earlier openly expressed his frustrations whilst the de facto Pheu Thai boss had looked to reconcile.
