BANGKOK Governor Chadchart Sittiphan said city officials are quickly draining water from main canals to prepare for more rain forecast for this Friday evening (July 5), TV Channel 7 said this afternoon.
Although rain fell almost all over the city yesterday, with the highest amount of around 60 millimetres falling in Thewet area of Phra Nakhon district, and 30 millimetres elsewhere, there was no report of main roads being flooded today.
Even so, Chadchart said he is not being complacent because water in Klong Prem, Khlong Lat Phrao and Klong Ta Oud canals is close to crisis level.
He warned residents that although it did not rain this morning it will likely do so this evening with this worsened by heavier than usual traffic on Fridays. Commuters were urged to carefully plan their trip.
Those who have flooded areas to report should do so at Bangkok Metropolitan Authority (BMA) hotline 1555 or 0 2248 5115 or Traffy Fondue online platform.
