Road rage brawl leads to killing at home

A ROAD RAGE brawl in Rayong led to a motorcyclist’s father being killed after the pickup truck driver with whom the former argued followed him home and fired a shot that hit the latter, Naewna newspaper said this morning (July 4).

At 9 p.m. last night Pol. Lt. Col. Punnapat Sritraithan, deputy superintendent at Pluak Daeng police station, Rayong, was alerted of a man being shot and seriously injured and quickly rushed there.

At the scene, which is a shack, they found Mr. Santi (pseudonym), 63, lying seriously injured on a bamboo bench after being shot in the chest. Rescuers continuously gave him cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) even though there was no pulse and rushed him to Pluak Daeng Hospital where doctors pronounced him dead.

Police also found a bullet casing at the scene.

The deceased man’s son, Dewrit, 43, told police that as he was riding home on his motorcycle he passed a pickup truck with very bright headlights that hit his eyes so he called out to the driver to dim them.

This led to an argument but as he did not think it was very serious he returned home.

However the pickup truck driver followed him home and fired a pistol with the bullet hitting his father who was sitting outside their home.

Dewrit was taken to the police station for questioning with police also collecting evidence and telling patrol units to block and apprehend the gunman on the likely escape routes.
