Court dismisses macau888 online gambling charges against businessman

 

THE Criminal Court this morning (June 11) dismissed a case against a well-known Thai businessman who was among nine suspects arrested on charges of running macau888 and one other online gambling website and money laundering after an expose by his former girlfriend actress Arisara “Due” Thongborisut, TV Channel 7 said.

Mr. Chaiwat “Benz Daemon” Kajornboonthavorn had been arrested after Arisara posted allegations about his involvement in a gambling network and having physically abused her during their relationship.

TV Channel 3’s Hone Krasae programme web page had published a photo of the actress with bruises on her body after allegedly being assaulted by her ex-boyfriend Benz Daemon.

The other suspects in this case are Mr. Adisak Nawallaong, Ms. Phacharaporn Sae Tan, Ms. Nantawan Rojsuwanchai, Ms. Hatya Longsirikong, Ms. Vauthien Thaisongkhram, Mr. Warut Kanjanapakul, Mr. Thanitpong Sureechotiphirom, Mr. Nattapong Rasinla with Chaiwat being the ninth defendant.

They were charged with running Huaysod Plus and Macau888 gambling websites and money laundering but all of them denied the charges.

However the court today dismissed charges against the eight defendant, Nattapong, and ninth defendant, Chaiwat.

The other defendants were sentenced as follows:

– First defendant, 38 months in jail;

– Second defendant, 32 months in jail;

– Third defendant, 18 months and 15 days in jail;

– Fourth defendant, 62 months in jail;

– Fifth defendant, 32 months in jail;

– Sixth defendant 622 months and 15 days in jail;

– Seventh defendant 44 months in jail.

The sixth defendant was found guilty of the most serious offence with maximum penalty being over three years in jail but not more than 10 years with this limited to 20 years imprisonment according to Section 91 (2) of the Criminal Code.
