A THAI model who used his good looks and luxurious lifestyle living in a swanky condo to create a well-off and trustworthy profile tricked many people into investing in his forex scam with losses reaching over 10 million baht, Amarin TV said today (May 10).
Sgt. Phithat, a 59-year-old inspector, led a police team to track down Mr. Suripich “Gas” Pakahaan, 30, who flew to Istanbul on November 30, 2022 and disappeared.
This police team finally succeeded in arresting the suspect yesterday on a charge of violating the Act on Offences Arising From the Use of Cheque, B.E. 2534 with there being 16 other arrest warrants out against him.
The suspect told police that he had worked as a freelancer in the entertainment industry since the age of 19, including several photo shoots.
He then invited his friends to join him in setting up the Fide Tech Group company to invest in creating applications, launching online games and multimedia.
He was in charge of finance and started to invest clients’ money in stocks and his luxurious lifestyle until he had nothing left.
While in the UK, he found out about the arrest warrants being issued against him and got worried about this, leading to finding ways to slip into Thailand unnoticed. He then met a middle-aged Malaysian woman who said she could help him cross over from Malaysia and guaranteed he would not get caught for a fee of 5,000 baht each trip.
He came to Thailand without passing immigration four times until he was finally caught.
