The Thai minister and his delegation are officially visiting US at Blinken’s invitation. This discussion is a continuation of talks held during a visit to Thailand by US National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan last month.

Blinken praised Thailand’s initiative to provide humanitarian assistance to civilians suffering in war-torn Myanmar and supported the move.

Last week Panpree said in Mae Sot that Thailand expects to open a humanitarian corridor to deliver aid to civilians displaced by the war in Myanmar in about a month’s time.

Talks also covered various other regions including the situation in Israel and Ukraine and assistance for Thais still held hostage in Gaza.

US was also asked to support Thailand’s candidature for the UN Human Rights Council 2025-2027 term,

The two sides stressed the importance of strategic alliance and partnership spanning more than 190 years in addressing both regional and global challenges based on shared values and interests.

Both sides agreed to advance cooperation both in terms of security with discussions to be held during the 2nd Strategic and Defence Dialogue (2+2) meeting in Bangkok during Feb. 28-29 and promoting economic partnership  especially in the area of trade and investment as well as promoting cooperation to deal with climate change.
