AN AIR PASSENGER’S photos of dirty and torn airplane seats sparked furore among stunned Thai social media users today (Feb. 3), Sanook.com said.
The unidentified passenger who shared these photos to a Facebook group called We the Consumers said he is flying every Friday and returning on Sunday till March and had made bookings in advance.
However upon boarding one flight he used a damp tissue to wipe the seat and it turned black with the grime it picked up.
“Flying with this airline is like fighting for one’s life. Last week the seat was dirty, wet a tissue with water and wiped it and it turned black. This week I encountered a situation where the cushion is struggling for life … it was torn,” he wrote.
After this post circulated many netizens commented on the shocking state of this airline’s seats. Among them are the are following:
“Is this an airplane or the green bus from Pak Nam to Bang Pakong, it’s so old.”
“Too much, don’t object to seats being old, but dirty too?”
“If I sit on it would the seat tear off and stick to my bottom?”
“Collected the airfare but the condition is unbearable.”
“Third class air-conditioned planes, it really made me think about safety.”
“If the seats are this bad, what about the engine?”
“Tour bus seats are better.”
The passenger later posted an update saying he complained to the airline and they said they would deep clean their airplanes. He pointed out that general cleaning would be enough and it was not necessary to deep clean.
It also appeared that his email was circulated internally because upon travelling again yesterday he found that his seat was very clean. However it so happened he had to switch to another seat and that one was dirty as usual.
The passenger added that he did not want compensation or special care with cleanliness being a basic necessity for all passengers.
