A WOMAN just days away from giving birth to her baby was saved while attempting to commit suicide by burning a charcoal stove in her sedan at northern Nan province today (Dec. 30), Amarin TV said.
At 3 p.m. the unidentified 31-year-old woman’s older sister flooded various social media platforms with messages asking for help in rescuing her as she was due to give birth on Jan. 5 and had suddenly come to her house in Santi Suk district to bid goodbye then drove off in her sedan.
At 3.34 p.m. a resident called the hotlines 191 and 1669 that he had spotted the sedan in Chai Sathan subdistrict, Mueang Nan district, and upon having a look saw a woman lying unconscious and foaming at her mouth with a still-lit charcoal stove next to her.
Officials notified her sister who quickly brought the vehicle’s spare key and when rescuers opened the door and got her out they found that she was unconscious with her pulse weak.
She was rushed to the hospital where doctors performed an emergency caesarean section and managed to save both the woman and her baby. However they are both still under close medical supervision.
It was later revealed that she had quarrelled with her husband whom she suspected was seeing another woman and drove out of their house before stopping by at her older sister’s home to say goodbye and was then saved by her online appeal for help.
