DEPUTY Prime Minister-cum-Interior Minister Anutin Charnvirakul today (Oct. 29) said political atmosphere will determine how quickly de facto Pheu Thai boss Thaksin Shinwatra’s daughter Paetongtarn Shinawatra becomes the prime minister after she was elected leader of this party on Friday, Naewna newspaper said.
Upon being asked by reporters whether Paetontarn could take the helm of the government soon, Anutin, who is also the leader of Bhumjaithai Party, replied it is not possible to foresee how politics will shape up because it is a matter for each party to decide.
However as Bhumjaithai is part of the coalition government headed by Pheu Thai there would have to be discussions about new policies and guidelines, he said, adding if it is beneficial for the people his party would support it.
As to whether the assumption of Pheu Thai leadership by Paetongtarn will further smoothen government workflow, Anutin replied that the government is already working smoothly under the leadership of Prime Minister Srettha Thavisin with two months having passed and everything is moving quickly.
In congratulating Paetongtarn, Anutin also praised her for showing potential and determination and having always respectfully called him uncle.
Bhumjaithai also supports the new generation going good for the country in all areas, he added.
