PAETONGTARN SHINAWATRA, daughter of de facto Pheu Thai boss/”sickly” inmate Thaksin Shinawatra was today (Oct. 27) named leader of the core coalition party.
In today’s extraordinary caucus, Paetongtarn was unrivalled to assume the top Pheu Thai leadership practically under influence of her father who has been invariably regarded by the Pheu Thai rank and file as the de facto party boss.
Thaksin had earlier commented that his youngest daughter could probably outperform him as prime minister as she had contested last May’s election as one of the Pheu Thai partisan contenders to take the helm of government.
Having been transferred from Bangkok Remand Prison to Police Hospital for “illnesses”, the symptoms and details of which have remained a mystery to the public, the deposed prime minister had allegedly managed to take part in power play over the setup of a Pheu Thai-led coalition government and allocation of cabinet portfolios among coalition partners via his right-hand man/Pheu Thai wheeler-dealer Bhumtham Wechayachai.
Meanwhile, Pheu Thai MP Sorawong Thienthong was named secretary-general of the Pheu Thai whilst Pheu Thai MP Danuporn Punnakun was named spokesperson of the party.
