DE FACTO Pheu Thai party bossThaksin Shinawatra’s daughter Paetongtarn Shinawatra said this afternoon (Oct. 24) that he was fine after four incisions were made in his shoulder during a surgery yesterday, Amarin TV and Matichon newspaper said.
Asked about Thaksin’s condition after Prime Minister Srettha Thavisin had mentioned that four incisions were made in his shoulder, she thought for a moment and then replied, “He is okay.”
Earlier reporters asked Srettha about the government’s response to some political activists opposing Thaksin staying at Police Hospital and not in jail, and he replied that Thaksin just had a surgery and he was not sure he had been released from the Neurosurgical Intensive Care Unit.
He also agreed that Paetongtarn, who is the head of Pheu Thai Family, is now playing a bigger role in government as she is the vice president of two committees, saying “this is our big policy.”
Asked whether she will becoming the leader of Pheu Thai party, Srettha told reporters they would have to ask her about it but there should be an answer on Friday (Oct. 27).
Srettha also revealed that he and his cabinet together with Paetongtarn were going to see the movie “The Undertaker” tomorrow to ascertain whether it could be pitched as part of Thailand’s soft power.
