SENATOR Khunying Pornthip Rojanasunan is in the eye of social media storm today (Sep. 30) after a TikTok video went viral showing a Thai man telling a woman with colourful hair to leave his shop in Reykjavík, Iceland, because he does not like what she did to Thailand, and it was later confirmed that it was the senator who was kicked out, Sanook.com said.
This video attracted a lot of comments with some agreeing with the shop owner’s action while others disagreed yet others asked about Dr. Pornthip taking leave from her parliamentary duties to go on this trip.
The unidentified Thai man spoke in both Thai and English and in one part said in English: “Get the h*** out of here. You are corrupt. Go, you get out of here. You not belong here, we don’t welcome you.”
He then added in Thai: “Don’t stand in my shop, this is my shop, get out, get out.”
However Dr. Pornthip and her group continued standing in his shop. A woman wearing a green sweater, later identified as Bhumjaithai Party MP Mallika Jirapunvanit from Lopburi, asked the man whether this was his shop.
He confirmed that it was and told an employee to show Dr. Pornthip the door.
Mallika then told him that they were in Iceland for a holiday and he should not discriminate.
He replied he was not discriminating and that is why the others could stay but Dr. Pornthip had to leave.
In the end the whole party left the shop.
Dr. Pornthip later also quickly deleted a photo from Instagram showing herself lying on top of mats of moss covering a lava field, which is protected in Iceland because it took decades for the moss to grow and it is also very fragile which is why walking on the lava field is not allowed.
