Blinded wealthy protester back home, has better perspective

THE wealthy protester who was injured in his right eye during a demonstration on August 13 and is now blind in that eye posted a Facebook message today (August 21) that he is now back home and has never seen things this clearly in his whole life, Sanook.com said.

The family of  Mr. Thanat Thanakitamnuay, or Hiso Luknut, said although he is now in stable condition he still needs medical treatment for at least six months.

In his Facebook post today he wrote: “Coming home today III I’m back in black b***ches #And when will my friend Penguin be able to go home from the hospital?”

Protest leader Mr. Parit Chivarak, or Penguin, was detained again recently and is undergoing treatment at Prison Hospital after contracting coronavirus there.

In an earlier post Thanat said: “One eye has gone forever but I’ve never seen things this clearly in my entire life.”

And in another post he said: “There are still many people who are suffering. There are still many people who have lost far more than I have.

“Their lives will never be the same again. Either because of loss from the violent dispersal of rallies by the state, or even just bad politics.

“I want to redirect all the support that was sent to me to these people so that they have a chance to stand up again.”
