Turkish fitness trainer nabbed on charges of defrauding rich Thai women

 

A TURKISH fitness trainer was arrested in Lat Phrao area this afternoon (Sep. 4) on charges of defrauding rich Thai women with losses amounting to millions of baht, Matichon newspaper said.

Pol. Maj. Gen. Phutthidej Boonkrapue, commander of the Economic Crime Suppression Division, sent Pol. Col. Teerapas Yungyuen and Pol. Maj. Worapoj Lalitjirakul to join a team from the Hanuman Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) unit in arresting Mr. Onur Gungor, 43, Turkish nationality, under an arrest warrant on fraud charges issued by Phra Khanong Provincial Court on March 23, 2015.

The suspect was found at Q Nouveau Residence in Soi Phibun Uppatham, Lat Phrao road.

Police said although Gungor worked as a fitness trainer he had a habit of befriending and romancing young wealthy Thai women.

Once they fall in love with him he would persuade them to invest in a car care business in Udomsuk area. However after he got their money he cut off all contacts with them, police said.

As the suspect has film-star good looks many women got scammed this way and total losses amounted to millions of baht, they added.

While the suspect has denied all charges he was taken to Udomsuk police station for further legal action.
