At last, Prayut will run for PM under Ruam Thai Sang Chart banners

AT LAST, PRIME MINISTER PRAYUT Chan-o-cha has made up his mind to run for head of a post-election government under the tickets of the Ruam Thai Sang Chart Party.

Prayut confirmed to reporters today (Dec.23) he will certainly register himself as a member of the Ruam Thai Sang Chart which will definitely name him the sole partisan contender for prime minister in the next general election.

The standoffish Prayut said the “fraternal” relationship between Palang Pracharath leader Prawit Wongsuwan and himself will undoubtedly remain intact in spite of tension which may have arisen between the both of them over the last several weeks and beyond.

Prayut has earlier remained tight-lipped and non-committal over his own political future though he has been already allowed by court to run the country for two years after the next election. The current premier had earlier expected Prawit’s camp to continue to endorse him again as prime minister as had been the case in the 2019 election.

Finally, Prayut has had no choice but to jump onto the Ruam Thai Sang Chart bandwagon, given the unlikelihood that either the Palang Pracharath or the Bhumjaithai will name him a partisan candidate as earlier anticipated.

Known as kingmaker over the last several years, Prawit has already planned to take his turn this time running for prime minister under the ruling Palang Pracharath banners.

Bhumjaithai leader Anutin Charnvirakul earlier confirmed he himself will be the sole partisan contender for prime minister under the tickets of the second largest coalition partner, steered by de facto party boss Newin Chidchob.
