AFTER himself getting infected the Covid-19 Situation Administration (CCSA) spokesman Dr. Taweesilp Wisanuyothin urged the public to frequently test for this contagious disease with antigen test kits (ATKs), Sanook.com.
In a Facebook message Dr. Taweesilp, who regularly briefed the public when the coronavirus pandemic was at its height, said he had a slight sore throat and conducted a test with the two-bar positive sign appearing.
He apologised to the public and his colleagues for having to take 10 days off to recover and underscored that frequent testing is important.
His post attracted a lot of comments from the public wishing him a speedy recovery.
Meanwhile the Public Health Ministry said this morning that there were 4,488 new Covid cases and 38 deaths over the past 24 hours taking the cumulative confirmed total since the beginning of the year to 2,215,564 and the onset of the pandemic 4,438,999.
Today’s 38 fatalities raised the death toll to 29,948.
Another 3,921 patients were cured taking total recoveries since Jan. 1 to 2,193,823 while 46,734 patients are still undergoing treatment.
