THE ENGINEER supervising the expansion of a road in Rayong province was shot dead by a woman who drove up to talk to him and afterwards fled in the new sedan, Naewna newspaper said today (Apr. 4)
At 10.50 a.m. Pol. Capt. Woradet Phongthong, deputy chief of Mueang Rayong police station, was alerted of the supervisor being shot dead and walked to the scene of crime together with two other policemen.
Once at the stretch of Ban Lang road that is currently being expanded they found the engineer, Mr. Nattawat Salakkham, 55, lying dead in a pool of blood in front of a commercial building. Scattered around him were five spent shells of a .22 calibre pistol.
Mr. Paitoon (surname withheld), 48, told police that the suspect is a woman with shoulder length hair of around 40 years of age wearing a grey printed blouse and black pants with her face covered with a mask. She drove to the site in a red-licence-plate sedan and after parking her vehicle walked up to the deceased and said she had a document for him to have a look at.
He took her to sit and talk at a bench in front of this commercial building but after 10 minutes Paitoon heard the sound of gunshots and dashed there. The suspect was about to fire again but upon being interrupted quickly walked to her sedan and drove off in the direction of the big Ban Lang-Khao Phrabat intersection.
