NONTHABURI police have called five friends of actress Pataratida Patcharawirapong, or Tangmo Nida, for questioning today (Feb. 25) after she fell off a speedboat into the Chao Phraya river under Rama 7 bridge last night with rescuers and divers still searching for her, Sanook.com said.
Her friends reported at 10.40 p.m. that she had plunged into the river with a search for her starting at 00.30 a,m.
Pol. Col. Jaturon Anurakbundit, the superintendent of Muang Nonthaburi police station, said while the actress’ friends will be questioned this afternoon it had already been discovered from people at the scene that she had gone to the stern to urinate then lost her balance and plunged into the river.
However he added that it is still uncertain whether this is what actually happened but on the other hand there are no reports of substance abuse.
At 6 a.m. this morning Tangmo Nida’s mother and brother came to the police station to state that they want to be involved in the case but her personal manager has not yet filed a complaint.
At 1.30 p.m. today forensic police boarded the luxury speedboat and collected several items as evidence including bottles of drinking water, wine glasses, tissue paper as well as dusted for fingerprints and other body fluids at the point she plunged into the river.
The original owner of the Cobalt speedboat worth 3.4 million baht was Mr. Prapinwit Rodbangyang who sold it to Mr His-So Por who was piloting it at the time of the accident.
Her friend, well-known presenter Anna Tvpool said while Tangmo Nida could swim she was not good at it. She added that the actress, whom she has known for 17 years, was very kind and saved every baht to take care of her family, according to Thai Rath.
