OUTSPOKEN MP Wiroj Lakkhanaadisorn today (Feb. 3) resigned as legislator of Move Forward Party with a known intent to contest Bangkok’s gubernatorial election in the next few months.
Wiroj who is yet to be replaced as MP by one of the Move Forward party-listed candidates officially declared in the 2019 general election has planned to run for Bangkok Governor under the name of the opposition party.
Interior Minister Anupong Paojinda recently confirmed the gubernatorial race has been tentatively scheduled for upcoming May.
Viewed among favourite candidates is independent contestant Chadchart Sittipunt.
Palang Pracharath Party, the biggest coalition partner in government, is yet to send a candidate speculated to be a female to contest the gubernatorial race.
Pheu Thai Party, the largest opposition camp, has so far been undecided as to whether they will eventually pit a partisan contender against those famous rivals whilst Democrat Party has planned to send Suchatvee Suwansawat, a former rector of King Mongkut’s Institute of Technology Ladkrabang campus contesting.
Current Bangkok Governor Aswin Kwanmuang might as well decide to run either as a partisan candidate or an independent one.
