A BANK ROBBER was stabbed to death in a fight with a security guard who himself suffered a severe chest wound with this occurring at a Government Savings Bank branch in Pathum Thani province this afternoon (Dec. 2), Sanook.com said.
Pol.Maj. Sirote Naannian, an inspector at Khlong Luang police station, was notified at 2.20 p.m. today of the robbery at the bank’s branch at TU Dome Plaza in Khlong Luang district with the knife-wielding robber dead and the guard injured so rushed there.
At the scene he saw blood trail all the way from the counter to the parking area in front of the plaza where the unidentified robber of around 25-30 years of age lay dead after being stabbed in the chest with his hands tied behind his back.
A little further apart was the badly injured security guard Mr. Khunthong Srichaiya who had also been stabbed in the chest. He was quickly sent to Thammasat University Hospital for treatment.
Parked there was a motorcycle with the Bangkok licence plate removed and kept under the seat.
Mr. Yuttana Kerdsang, a credit officer at the bank, told police that he was working at the counter when the robber armed with a knife came straight at him so he quickly ran off and hid in the maid’s room.
The robber then tried to get money from other bank staff but the security guard intervened and in the ensuing fight got stabbed in the chest.
The robber then ran to the entrance to escape but the wounded security guard followed him and in the second fight succeeded in grabbing the knife from the robber and stabbing him.
At this point Mr Chanakorn Jarat, 18, who was at a roadside shop stepped in together with two others at the scene and tied the robber’s hands behind his back.
