Wisanu warns of House dissolution if emergency loan not approved

DEPUTY Prime Minister Wisanu Krua-ngam today (May 27) said the dissolution of the House of Representatives is a viable option if the additional 500 billion baht loan to tackle the spread of Covid-19 and solve economic and social issues is not approved by majority of the MPs, Sanook.com said this afternoon.

In answering reporters’ questions on this issue, he replied that by tradition this is what should be done.

Wisanu added that the Emergency Decree will be included in the agenda of the House meeting tomorrow (May 28) and could be considered after deliberation of the Fiscal 2022 budget bill.

It is not known when the Emergency Decree will be debated with this depending on House Speaker Chuan Leekpai to arrange it.

How long the deliberation will last would depend on an agreement by party whips, he added.

Meanwhile the Centre for Covid-19 Situation Administration’s (CCSA’s) spokesman Dr. Taweesilp Visanuyothin this afternoon revealed that there were  3,323 new coronavirus cases in the last 24 hours with fatalities reaching a new daily high of 47 taking the overall death toll to 920, Thai Rath newspaper said.

This raised the cumulative confirmed total to 141,217.

The new batch of cases were divided into 2,083 among the general public, 1,219 in prisons and detention centres and 21 overseas arrivals who were placed in state quarantine.

Another 2,063 patients were cured, taking total recoveries to 93,828. Meanwhile 46,469 are still undergoing treatment with 18,335 in hospitals and  28,134 in field hospitals. Among them are 1,201 who are in serious condition with 399 requiring ventilators.
