THE Public Health Ministry announced that a fourth woman who worked at an entertainment venue in Myanmar’s Tachileik district has been found to be infected with Covid-19 but an unverified report shared online says a fifth woman too has similarly tested positive for this deadly disease and she moved around and even went to a fair with her boyfriend, Amarin TV reported this afternoon (Dec. 1, 2020).
At 1 p.m. today Dr. Kiattiphum Wongrachit, Public Health Ministry’s permanent secretary, said this is the fourth case following the superspreader, a 29-year-old woman, testing positive for coronavirus in Chiang Mai last Friday.
Dr. Sophon Iamsirithaworn, director of the General Communicable Diseases Division, said all four women were infected in Tachilek with patients number two to four working at the same entertainment venue there.
The latest case is a 25-year-old Thai woman from Phayao province who early November went to work in Tachileik and then sneaked back with two friends. During November 24-27 they stayed at a hotel in Mae Sai district and did not leave the room, using a food delivery service.
They moved to stay at a hotel in Chiang Rai city during November 28-30 and yesterday went in for a test, upon getting a positive result was sent to Prachanukroh Hospital for treatment.
Her two friends have so far tested negative for this deadly disease but are being closely monitored. Others who came into contact with them are considered to be at low-risk of getting infected.
Meanwhile a timeline document shared online shows that that a fifth woman, who is 28 years old and worked at the same entertainment venue in Tachileik as did the others and also sneaked back to Thailand just as they did, had also been found to be infected with Covid-19.
According to this document this woman slipped back to Thailand on Sunday November 29 and rode a motorcycle to Mae Sai district, reaching the city at 3 p.m.
She then took a taxi to a shopping centre and at 6 p.m. was taken by her boyfriend to a fair, staying there till midnight, and then checking into a hotel.
Yesterday, November 30, they drove to Chiang Mai, stopping to have noodles and shopping at a convenience store along the way.
She got herself tested for coronavirus at a Chiang Mai hospital at 5 p.m. yesterday and then drove to Phayao, stopping at a petrol pump to use the toilet, and was admitted to Phayao Hospital at midnight. She was confirmed to be infected this morning, according to this unverified document.
