Daily Covid count jumps to 9,539 as Anutin helps centenarian 


THE Centre for Covid-19 Situation Administration (CCSA) revealed more dismal figures today (July 11) with daily coronavirus cases rising non-stop to 9,539 amid 86 more fatalities while almost 1,000 patients now require ventilators, TV Channel 7 said.

Meanwhile the Department of Medical Services said in its Facebook page that Deputy Prime Minister and Public Health Minister Mr. Anutin Charnvirakul went to a 108-year-old Covid-infected man’s house at 2 a.m. this morning and personally took him to the Institute of Neurology for treatment.

Once there the institute’s director  Dr. Thanin Vejchapinan and his team warmly welcomed him with the Deputy Premier encouraging them to continue their good work.

The coronavirus crisis continues to deteriorate with CCSA’s spokesman Dr. Taweesilp Visanuyothin mentioning that the cumulative confirmed total since the start of the pandemic has climbed to 336,371 and in the new wave that started in April 307,508.

Today’s 86 fatalities raised the death toll since the start of the pandemic to 2,711 people and in the current wave 2,617, with  2,634 being Thais and 77 foreigners.

Bangkok continues to record the highest number of deaths and infections.

Of the new batch of cases 9,436 were among the general public, 103 in prisons and detention centres, while 18 overseas arrivals were also found to be infected.

Another 4,053 patients were cured, taking total recoveries since the start of the pandemic to 247,971 and in the current wave 220,545.
