A DRUG addict desperate for cash to fund his habit confessed to stealing three top-up machines, two in Khon Kaen city and one at a Kalasin district, getting several thousand baht from each of them, Khaosod newsapaper reported this evening (Sept. 24, 2020).
Pol. Col. Anusak Sakdawatcharanon, head of Nam Phong station at Khon Kaen, said investigators tracked down Mr. Phanom Singsawat, 26, at his home in Sam Sung district after a surveillance camera showed him driving off in a pickup with a top-up machine he had yanked from the front of a shop.
The suspect confessed that he had stolen two top-up machines in this district and one at Kalasin’s Huai Mek district, and after opening them and getting the money, dumping them in the forest. He said he needed the money to buy drugs.
Khon Kaen police have recovered the two top-up machines stolen in their city, with these being Term Sabai Plus and Boon Term units, as well as seized his pickup truck, a True mobile phone with a sim card, two wrenches, a lot of coins totaling 85 baht, a red T-shirt, a pair of black trousers and a black and blue cap.
