Party ‘wants Supattanapong to be new finance minister’

WITH THE vital finance minister position now vacant after Predee Daochai’s sudden resignation a few days ago, sources in Palang Pracharath Party say there is an attempt to push forward Deputy Prime Minister and Energy Minister Supattanapong Panmeechaow for this key position because no one else suitable could be found, Siam Rath newspaper reported today (Sept. 13, 2020).

However if this happens, the position of energy minister would then need to be filled and party members want Industry Minister Suriya Juangroongruangkit to shift to this seat.

They are eager for either Deputy Finance Minister Santi Promphat or Minister of the Prime Minister’s Office Anucha Nakasai to then be the industry minister.

These party stalwarts want Deputy Labour Minister Mrs. Narumon Pinyosinwat to fill the deputy finance minister position.

Her current position would likely then be filled by Mr. Chaiwut Thanakmanusorn, a party list MP and a member of the executive committee.

This cabinet reshuffle formula will be proposed to Deputy Prime Minister Prawit Wongsuwan who in turn will present the list to Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha.

The reshuffle is expected to either take place end of this month or early next month after fiscal 2021 budget bill is approved by Parliament.
