THE Head of the House Committee on Legal Affairs, Justice and Human Rights personally went to check the Rama 3 road gambling den where four persons including a police officer were shot dead recently after strong public suspicion that a scapegoat has been arrested, Naewna newspaper reported today (August 9, 2020).
Mr. Sira Jenjaka, Palang Phracharath Party MP and head of this committee, said he doubts that Mr. Pipit Srisuwan, or Boy Ban Krua, 61, who has been arrested for firing shots that killed Thavorn Sisod, 51, moments after the latter had first shot dead two card dealers and then Pol. Maj. Watthaset Samnieangprasert, had actually committed the crime because of his advanced age
He added that he will put in a request to personally speak to Boy.
Sira was initially not allowed into the gambling den with police fearing that evidence could get damaged but after a 15-minute discussion he was allowed to go in together with Pol. Col. Phithak Suthikul, acting head of Thung Maha Mek station, but reporters were barred from doing so.
Upon coming out he told reporters that the gambling den consisted of two halls, one big and the other small, and police had marked the placement of 10 gambling tables. A dragon tiger gambling table had not been removed before police got there because that was where the dead bodies lay. There is a secret exit-only door at the den that gamblers did not know about.
Sira added that he is suspicious how the police officers could have allowed evidence to be destroyed and questioned them about how long it took for them to reach the gambling den after being alerted about the shootout.
He also questioned police whether they had tracked down the men who removed the CCTV cameras and police told them that they had found out their nicknames and were chasing them.
