A POLICE officer who acted fast managed to save a young woman who was attempting to jump off Rama 8 bridge this afternoon (August 9), Sanook.com reported.
At around 12.14 p.m. Pol. Col. Piyarat Supharat, head of Patrol and Special Operation Division (191), together Pol. Sgt. Maj. Charoen Aodphan rushed to the spot on the bridge where the young woman dressed in black was precariously standing at the ledge and hanging on to the rail.
Both policemen got close to her to persuade her to climb back to the bridge proper but she refused to say anything, just continued crying.
Pol. Col. Piyarat continued coaxing her for another 10 minutes and when he saw that she had calmed down a bit, and was willing to let him get closer to her, he used that opportunity to pull her back to safety.
The young woman was then taken to Bowon Mongkol police station where policemen would be contacting her relatives to take her home.
