Police hunting for foreigner who slapped a chemist on Koh Phangan

KOH PHANGAN police are searching for a foreign man who slapped a chemist on Sunday June 28 after a video clip of the two-minute incident was shared by this tourist island’s Line group, Naewna newspaper reported today (July 1, 2020).

In a message accompanying the video clip, Koh Phangan Line group said: “With whom is this foreigner staying … or if anyone should meet him … please contact Haad Rin beach police booth … there was a physical assault on a chemist at Haad Rin.”

The video clip shows the foreign man, who was only wearing shorts and carrying a red backpack, talking in a bad mood to the chemist at Nopporn Pharmacy near this beach.

After that he used his left hand to grab the chemist’s shirt collar and slapped him with his right hand, leading to the latter’s spectacles falling off.

The chemist then went and got 650 baht out of his wallet and handed it over to the foreigner who left the shop.

After that Pol Col Phisit Wisetwong, director of Koh Phangan police station, contacted the pharmacy but the chemist told him that he sold some medicine to the foreigner for 650 baht and that he does not remember what medicine it was while having returned the money.

Pol Col Phisit told the chemist to come to the police station to file a complaint but he did not show up. He then sent policemen to the shop but they did not find him and were told he had taken leave and could not be contacted.

Meanwhile Pol Maj Phuadon Viriyawarangkul,  an inspector of Tourist Police on Koh Samui, has instructed Koh Phangan policemen to search for this foreigner because it was an unwarranted assault against another person.
