THE PEOPLE’S plans to file a lawsuit shortly to the National Anti-Corruption Commission against the Election Commission on misconduct and duty-negligence charges on the part of the polling agency pertaining to their deliberate failure to bring to justice in court all 229 suspects including Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul and de facto Bhumjaithai boss Newin Chidchob among others over 2024’s alleged senatorial rigging conspiracy.
People’s leader Nattapong Ruengpanyawut confirmed today (Sep.21) the largest opposition party plans to lodge the lawsuit within the upcoming Friday (Sep.25) to the anti-graft agency prosecuting 150-plus suspects including the prime minister as leader and Newin as de facto boss of the Bhumjaithai, core of the coalition government, their partisan colleagues in cabinet, lawmakers and those closely attached to or practically connected with the largest ruling party on charges of surreptitious, yet-evident involvement in the vote-buying, bloc-vote manipulations which allegedly landed 138 senatorial contestants “victories” in the complicated, triple-tiered races two years ago.
Nattapong said the senatorial rigging scandals will most certainly be raised as a despicable, significant issue of censure debate against the Bhumjaithai prime minister and others of the ruling party’s rank and file largely expected between late next month and early in the following month.
The NACC could possibly forward the People’s-lodged lawsuit to the Criminal Court for Misconduct and Corruption which could possibly land jail sentences for those commissioners if finally found guilty as charged.
In another development, reserve senators have earlier filed a separate petition to Supreme Court judges in charge of lawsuits related to elections to completely repeal the election commissioners’ recent ruling which has contentiously spared prosecution of those Bhumjaithai suspects in the electoral fraud plot and to order truthful, evidence-based reinvestigation into the historic shenanigans.
The commissioners had apparently treated the electoral irregularities as individual, non-mutually connected phenomena and only chosen to prosecute 77 out of the total 229 suspects, including 26 little-known senators, whilst allegedly keeping Anutin, Newin and the other eminent Bhumjaithai elements intact from prosecution in the Supreme Court.
If finally found guilty as charged, all suspected Bhumjaithai elements could possibly be immediately deprived of their current statuses in the legislative and executive branches and banned from engaging in political activity at all levels for a number of years with their ruling party being consequently dissolved.
