THAI police said in a Facebook post this evening (Nov. 27) that Forensic Science Centre 9 revealed that they have found over a hundred dead bodies in Hat Yai flooding with 20 of them still to be identified, Naewna newspaper said.
National Police Chief Pol. Gen. Kitrat Phanphet mobilised a forensic science team, teams from other police units and cold storage facilities to the southern city at 6 p.m.
Meanwhile the Geo-Informatics and Space Technology Development Agency (GISTDA) with input of AIS network usage data found that from Monday to Wednesday (Nov.24-26) more than 300,000 AIS mobile phone numbers remained active in the same Hat Yai flooded zones, with the reflecting the large number of people affected by the huge inundation, TV Channel 7 said.
Based on StriX-4 satellite imagery at 7.20 a.m. on Tuesday (Nov. 25) GISTDA found that the flooded area totalled 59,643 rai, covering Hat Yai City and surrounding areas. The imagery also showed floodwater depths ranging from half a metre to more than five metres.
GISTDA analysis further revealed the following:
– People affected: 210,054;
– Houses damaged: 33,852;
– Hospitals affected: 5;
– Schools affected: 58;
– Roads affected: 710km.
